About this tool

Paste text and each letter and digit is translated to its NATO phonetic word (A → Alfa, B → Bravo, and so on), useful for spelling things out clearly over a call.

Frequently asked questions

What is the NATO phonetic alphabet?
A standardized set of words (Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, ...) used to spell out letters clearly over radio or phone, where similar-sounding letters can be misheard.
What does "Preserve letter case" do?
When on, a phonetic word is shown in ALL CAPS if its source letter was uppercase, and normal case otherwise. When off, every phonetic word uses standard capitalization regardless of the source letter's case.
What does "Show original characters" do?
Prefixes each phonetic word with its source character, e.g. "H (Hotel)" instead of just "Hotel".
Is my text sent to your servers?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser.
