UUID Generator
Generate UUID v4 (random) or v7 (time-ordered) identifiers in bulk, instantly.
Generated locally in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
About this tool
A UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is a 128-bit identifier used across databases, distributed systems, and APIs to identify records without a central coordinating authority. This tool generates RFC 9562-compliant v4 (random) and v7 (time-ordered) UUIDs using your browser’s Web Crypto API — the same cryptographically secure random source used by the browser itself, not a pseudo-random fallback.
Frequently asked questions
- What's the difference between UUID v4 and v7?
- v4 is fully random — 122 bits of randomness, no ordering or timing information encoded. v7 embeds a 48-bit millisecond timestamp, so UUIDs generated later sort after ones generated earlier — useful as a database primary key, since it avoids the random-insertion-order index fragmentation v4 causes.
- Are these UUIDs generated on your servers?
- No. Generation uses the Web Crypto API (crypto.randomUUID() / crypto.getRandomValues()) directly in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, logged, or stored.
- Is UUID v7 generated here strictly ordered within the same millisecond?
- No — per RFC 9562's base method, only the millisecond-granularity ordering is guaranteed. UUIDs generated within the same millisecond are ordered by random bits, not a monotonic counter. This matches the RFC's baseline algorithm.
- Can I generate more than one at a time?
- Yes — set Quantity up to 1000 and click Generate, then Copy all or Download as a .txt file.
