About this converter

Deploying a Spring Boot app to Docker, Kubernetes, or a CI/CD pipeline usually means turning application.properties or application.yml into environment variables that match Spring's relaxed-binding naming convention. WebCodeIn does that conversion instantly and correctly, in your browser — no server round-trip, no upload of your (possibly credential-containing) configuration.

How it works

  1. Paste your configuration, or drag & drop a file, into the input panel.
  2. Choose the input and output formats — WebCodeIn detects most formats automatically from the content.
  3. Your converted output appears instantly, computed entirely in your browser.
  4. Copy it to your clipboard or download it as a file. Nothing is uploaded at any point.

Supported formats

Frequently asked questions

Does this follow Spring Boot's relaxed binding rules?
It follows the common case: dotted property names are uppercased and underscore-joined (spring.datasource.url -> SPRING_DATASOURCE_URL), which is exactly what Spring Boot's relaxed binding expects when reading configuration back from the environment.
Can I go the other way — from ENV keys back to Spring properties?
Yes — select the Spring Boot output format on any input to get an application.properties snippet with ${ENV_VAR:default} placeholders, the standard Spring Boot pattern for externalizing config to the environment.
Does it work with application.yml too?
Yes — select YAML as the input format. Nested YAML keys flatten the same way dotted .properties keys do.

Privacy

Conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — your configuration is never transmitted to our servers just to be converted. We don’t log your input, store it in our database, send it to analytics, or include it in error reports. The only server-side calls this page makes are for anonymous, aggregate usage counters (which format pair was used) and never include your actual configuration or generated output.
